Get Coding and Get Coding 2 are books for children aged 8-14, with no previous experience of programming.
You don't need to have completed Get Coding 1 to start Get Coding 2, as they both cover the fundamentals.
Get Coding! - #1 Best Seller
Get Coding! is the essential guide to computer coding for kids. Computer coding is a key skill and is now part of the National Curriculum for children aged 5+. This fun and exciting book teaches you how to code using the three most important programming languages in the world: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
In each of the book’s six missions develop new coding skills by working through simple step-by-step instructions and bite-sized chunks of information. Then test your new programming knowledge by coding your own projects, which include a website, app, game, password and map. Your coding will help Professor Bairstone, Dr Day and Ernest to keep the Monk Diamond safe from a gang of dangerous jewel thieves.
All you need is the book and a computer (PC or Mac) that’s connected to the Internet. The book is suitable for beginners with no previous experience of coding. It’s aimed at kids aged 9+.

Bonus - The unedited final chapter
The final game in Get Coding 2 is a challenge left for the reader around to build a 2D platforming game.
When writing the book, there was originally a longer cut of the chapter, around 50 more pages!
As a bonus, I'm making available this "uncut, and unedited" final chapter here. It's rough, raw, and written in more technical language than the kids editions of the book as it was part of a pre-edited cut.
It's a full walk-through to build the game, rather than just the new features as introduced in the book.

Bonus - Interactive demos
There are some interactive demos of the games we walk through in Get Coding 2 available as Glitch sketches here.
